Whippersnapper is a five-piece melodic punk band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 1995. The band consists of guitarists Mike Fink and Jason Joseph, drummer Patrick Kerr, vocalist Andy Munn, and bassist Andy Belote.
Known for their fast-paced punk sound with melodic elements, Whippersnapper drew comparisons to bands like Lagwagon and Strung Out. They released three albums: America’s Favorite Pastime (1998) and The Long Walk (1999) on Lobster Records, and Appearances Wear Thin (2002) on Fueled by Ramen. The Long Walk reached the Top 40 on U.S. college radio charts, marking a high point in their career. Their music evolved over time, with later work exploring more diverse arrangements while retaining its punk core.
After releasing Appearances Wear Thin, Whippersnapper disbanded in 2002. The band remained inactive for over two decades, with their music continuing to resonate with fans of the 1990s punk scene. In 2025, Whippersnapper reunites for their first performance in 23 years, scheduled for The Fest 23 at The Wooly in Gainesville, Florida, on October 25, 2025, from 7:10 PM to 7:50 PM.
The reunion show is a significant moment for the band and their fans, offering a chance to revisit their influential catalog. Whippersnapper’s return highlights their lasting impact on melodic punk and the enduring connection with their audience.
